Waiting on Wednesday [22]: Truthwitch by Susan Dennard

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming books we are looking forward to being released.
This week pick is:

by Susan Dennard
The Witchlands #1
Expected Pub. Date: January 5th, 2016
Tor Teen
Young Adult Fantasy

On a continent ruled by three empires, some are born with a “witchery”, a magical skill that sets them apart from others.
In the Witchlands, there are almost as many types of magic as there are ways to get in trouble—as two desperate young women know all too well.
Safiya is a Truthwitch, able to discern truth from lie. It’s a powerful magic that many would kill to have on their side, especially amongst the nobility to which Safi was born. So Safi must keep her gift hidden, lest she be used as a pawn in the struggle between empires.
Iseult, a Threadwitch, can see the invisible ties that bind and entangle the lives around her—but she cannot see the bonds that touch her own heart. Her unlikely friendship with Safi has taken her from life as an outcast into one of reckless adventure, where she is a cool, wary balance to Safi’s hotheaded impulsiveness.
Safi and Iseult just want to be free to live their own lives, but war is coming to the Witchlands. With the help of the cunning Prince Merik (a Windwitch and ship’s captain) and the hindrance of a Bloodwitch bent on revenge, the friends must fight emperors, princes, and mercenaries alike, who will stop at nothing to get their hands on a Truthwitch.

Why am I waiting?

I've never read anything by Susan Dennard before. I've heard a lot about her since she's best friends with Sarah J Maas and I love watching Sarah's Q&As on YouTube and I'm intrigued. I really want to see for myself if she's as good a writer as Sarah. I know there's another series written by Susan that's already out, but this one sounds more like something I would enjoy. and I'm really excited to get my hands on it. What do you think? Have you read anything by Susan Dennard?

What do you think about this one?

I'd love to read your thoughts.

Leave me a link to your WoW in the comment section below.

  1. I'm in the same situation as you for this book. I've never read Susan's other books because they're about zombies and that's a paranormal creature I don't like to read about... But this one sounds amazing, I totally have a thing for high fantasy!

You can find my WoW on my blog:

    1. Yeah... I'm really curious about her. I mean she can't be a bad writer if Sarah J. Maas endorses her books, being the awesome writer that she is. I'm really hoping it won't disappoint me. Fingers crossed.
      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Truthwitch is one of my picks, as well! So excited for it =D

    Happy reading,
