Top Ten Tuesday [15]: Last Ten Books That Came Into My Possession

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish.

Last Ten Books That Came Into My Possession

1) A Novel Idea by Aimee Friedman: This one was an impulsive buy. It was very cheap at a library sale. I read the premise and I couldn't help myself. It's a Young Adult Contemporary Romance and it's supposed to be about a high school girl who starts a book club to get extra credit for collage and is surprised to see that one of the attendees turns out to be a guy who could've perfectly been one of Jane Austen's famous heroes. It's fairly short and I'm hoping to read it in between other heavier books

2) Flywheel by Erin Gough: I bought this one a few weeks ago because I wanted to get into reading more GLBT books from a female perspective. I started reading it but I couldn't suspend my disbelief at the whole situation going on at the beginning, so I put it down and I don't think I'm picking it up again any time soon, unfortunately.

3) Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard: I bought this book like a month ago mainly because of its mixed reviews. I wanted to give it a try myself and see what it was all about. I started reading it like two weeks ago and then stopped because I had a read-a-thon going on and it wasn't really on my plans to be reading it during that event. But I plan on continuing it, because I'm liking it so far even though I get why some people call it "unoriginal"... I mean, there's tons of dystopian books out there, of course there are themes and elements that are bound to repeat themselves, but I still think the combination of elements and the way they work within this book is particular and unique to its story.

4) Suicide Notes From Beautiful Girls by Lynn Weingarten: This book was released this month and I received it as a gift from one of my friends. She said that I had to read it because it was "like a hundred layers of messed up, a real page turner that kept me awake the entire night" (I'm quoting her). So, I'm really interested in finding out what it is about.

5) A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Mass: So, I read Throne of Glass recently and loved it. I have not finish that series yet, but I saw a couple of interviews with Sarah J. Mass on Youtube and couldn't help myself. I had to buy it, especially because she kept saying that one of her characters from this book was inspired by someone on Teen Wolf and that's like my favorite show and I know I have a lot of books on my TBR since like forever and that I should finish at least the first series before buying everything the author has ever written, but oh well, don't judge me. I needed to have it. Besides the cover is gorgeous and it has amazing reviews.

6) Paperweight by Meg Haston: This one is a young adult contemporary novel about mental health issues that came out at the beginning of this month. I've been wanting to read more serious contemporary YA for a while now and this book's theme seems to be darker and  more substantial than all the other contemporary books I've read in the past year, so when I saw it I just decided to go for it. I'm not sure exactly when I'll be reading it, because I have to be on the right mood to pick up a book like this one, but I hope it'll be in the near future.

7) The Improbable Theory of Ana and Zak by Brian Katcher: This one I got just for the title. Yes, sometimes I'm shallow like that. I thought it was cute and reminded me of Jennifer E. Smith books. I read the premise and it sounded like a fairly fast and fun read. Besides, although I consider myself to be kind of a geek, I haven't read a book that takes place during a geeky convention before, so I thought why not?

8) The Cage by Megan Shepherd: I got this just yesterday. Humans teenager being held captive like animals in a zoo by an alien race? I'm in! The cover is gorgeous, the premise sounds amazing, I can only hope this one lives up to my expectations.

9) A Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson: I've heard so many great things about this book and at first I wasn't sure it would be my cup of tea. But then I read Throne of Glass and really liked it, and then some people compared it to it and said it was similar in greatness but in its own way and I just cave in. I'm really interested in finding out what it is that makes this book so good, so I'm going to be reading it this month or at the beginning of August.

10) The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson: What?! I can feel you judging me. I know I haven't read the first book but I figured since the first one seemed so good I might need to have the second one at hand for when I finish it. Yeah, nice logic, I know.

  1. I really liked THE CAGE. The idea of a human zoo is pretty repugnant, but it's interesting!

    Happy TTT!

  3. I want to read Red Queen so badly! I've heard tons of great things but I still haven't purchased a copy. The Cage sounds excellent too.

  4. "The Cage" is one of the books i really want to get my hands on, because of the same reasons that you wrote about. It just sounds really interesting to me to read a book, where humans are treated as zoo animals.
I also really want to get my hands on "suicide notes" and "Red Queen" and the "kiss of deception" series.
I can say that "A Court of Thorns and Roses" is really worth the hype, the writing style of Maas will suck you into the book even if you don't completely love the story itself, which by the way is also very well done ;) And it is a fast read.
    Great list :)
