Top Ten Books Featuring Travel In Some Way

Well, I just came to realize that I haven’t read that many contemporary books about traveling, so for today’s TTT I’ll be featuring mostly dystopian and fantasy books than involve travel in some way, I hope that’s okay.

                                           1) The Iron King (The Iron Fey #1) by Julie Kagawa

This book is so amazing! It follows Meghan, a girl whose brother has been taken and some strange creature has been left in his place. Now she has to go to the Nevernever, this new fairy world she just discovered, to find the ones who took him and bring him back home. She travels by horse, foot and portals shifting between the normal world and the Nevernever.

2) Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson

This one is my all-time favorite road trip book. I just loved it so much! It follows the adventures of Amy and Roger in their road trip from California to Connecticut. In each stop they meet people, learn about themselves and fall a little more for each other. Just amazing! 

3) Catching Fire (The Hunger Games #2) by Suzanne Collins

Well… What can I say? I was running out of options, so here it goes! [If you haven’t read The Hunger Games, skip to the next book to avoid spoilers] In the first half of this book, Peeta and Katniss travel through the districts by train (I think) for the Victory Tour and we learn about the life in some of them, it’s pretty exciting to get to know more about each place and it really helps to have a better idea of the world in this amazing trilogy.

4) The Testing (The Testing #1) by Joelle Charbonneau

I just finished this book about a week ago and I absolutely loved it! First, we have Cia traveling from Five Lakes Colony to the Testing Center in Tosu City by skimmer (which is some kind of futuristic vehicle) and then there’s another travel because of the Test but I won’t go into it because this book hasn’t been released yet, so I don’t want to spoil things for those who haven’t read it.

5) The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden #1) by Julie Kagawa

When Alice is turned into a vampire she has to leave the security of the walls and join her vampire mentor, but after a couple of events take place, she has to flee her city altogether. She travels alone by foot around the ruins of North American cities until she meets a group of people who’s looking for Eden (yes, the freaking paradise) so she joins them and keeps traveling with them.

6) Ashfall (Ashfall #1) by Mike Mullin

I read this book last year and I really like it. The story follows Alex’s journey after the eruption of the Yellowstone volcano. He has to travel to Illinois by foot (kinda, you’ll see what I mean if you read the book) to find his parents and sister who went to the country for the weekend before everything happened.

7) The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Chronicles of Narnia #3/#5) by C.S. Lewis

Well, I pick this one because I enjoyed it a lot when I was a kid and it features traveling alright. In this installment of the popular series, our characters travel by some kind of ship which I found really exciting.

8) Model Spy (The Specialists, #1) by Shannon Greenland

I really liked this book! Our protagonist is really afraid of airplanes, but she has to take one at some point of the story and she travels from California to Ushbania (I think it’s a fictional place, located in Europe) to complete her first spy mission.

9) Two-way Street by Lauren Barnholdt

            

I read this one a while ago... two/three years maybe? But I still remember liking it a lot. We follow Jordan and Courtney as they try to keep it together while on a super awkward road trip.

 

10) Across the Universe (Across the Universe #1) by Beth Revis

I read this one at the beggining of the year and I liked it a lot. We have intergalactic space travel as our protagonist are on a spaceship trying to reach a new planet. If that's not traveling I don't know what is!
