Inseparable by Missy Johnson
Release Date: 05/14/13

Premise:
Can you imagine losing your twin?
Nineteen year old Lily is still struggling with the death of her identical twin, Abby, a year later when she moves away from home for college. Even in death though, their bond is still strong, with Abby visiting Lily in her dreams.
When a chance encounter with Twenty-One year old Dane Hansen changes Lily’s life, Lily’s friends warn her off becoming involved with Dane. He’s bad news, according to the rumors, anyway.

Abby holds the key to something that will change Lily and Dane's life forever, but how do you get someone else to believe something you don't quite understand yourself?

Excerpt #2

He breathed in sharply. “You’re not playing fair, sexy.” He muttered, as he slowly walked closer to me. I let his arm slide around my waist, and eyed him with caution as he brought me flush against his body. I narrowed my eyes at him as he ran his finger down the middle of my chest, opening the third button. I shivered as he ripped the final buttons apart.“Don’t you make your bed?” I laughed, raising an eyebrow at him. He shook his head proudly.

“You know, research has shown there is actually less bacteria in an unmade bed when compared to a made one.” He said, brushing the creases out of the sheet.

“Is that you’re idea of foreplay?” I giggled, “Woo me with your bacteria talk, Dane. It really turns me on.” I said in my sexiest voice. He blushed, then pulled me into his arms, caressing my face.

“Are you making fun of me, Lily?” He asked, teasing me with promises of a kiss. My lips lurched forward, trying to catch his. He was too fast for me, pulling away, with a sly smile. Then leaning in again, and pulling away. “Still want to make fun of me?” He murmured, his eyes narrowed.

Really? He thought he was the one with the power here? He was about to learn a valuable lesson. I pulled out of his embrace, circling him around the room until I was up against the bed.

“You don’t want to kiss me, Dane?” I pouted, tilting my head to the side, my hands threatening to undo the second top button of my shirt. Eventually, it popped open, giving him an eyeful of breast.

I shivered as he ripped the final buttons apart.

Autumn visits the ship's doctor, hoping for a pill or a shot to make the craziness go away. Instead, she's warned that these "alternate realities" could become permanent.

“Are you all right, honey?”

I opened my eyes. An attractive young woman with red hair and brilliant
green eyes was looking at me. What I thought was salt water from the
ocean must have been tears because my face was the only one nearby that
was wet. I glanced at her concerned expression and smiled. “Yes, thank
you. I’m fine.” I swiped away a tear with my finger. “Just…everything’s
fine.”

She stepped closer and lowered her voice. “This cruise will change
your life. Nothing will be the same when it’s over, but it will be worth it.
You’ll see.” Her emerald eyes twinkled, and she nodded her head once.

I forced a laugh to be polite. “Thanks. Enjoy your cruise.”

What a weirdo. What did that even mean? How could a cruise change
my life? I moved from my spot to avoid more weirdness from her and
found a less populated area at the back of the ship. New York and New
Jersey disappeared behind us as we charged toward Bermuda and away
from the mess my life had become.

A cloud covered the retreating sun, sending shivers through me. A
white-haired lady dropped her purse and lots of change tumbled out. A
penny hit my foot and landed on tails.

My cell phone buzzed. I pulled it from my pocket. I had thirteen
messages and thirteen texts. How would Nisha survive the next five days
without hearing from me? I took care of the messages and told her I’d call
her when we got back to Jersey.

Even though I was not very superstitious, a bad feeling crawled into
the pit of my stomach and took up residence.

I knew what I was leaving behind, but what was I floating toward?

He’s stunned at first and doesn’t move. I start to pull away, thinking I’ve made a huge mistake, but then I feel Andy’s hand on my lower back, pulling me closer. His lips part, and he deepens the kiss.

Every inch of me is on fire. Andy’s an incredible kisser, but the position we’re in is awkward. I reach my hands up and bury my fingers in his hair, which prompts him to lift me onto his lap. Much better. Our bodies are pressed so close I can feel every inch of him. My lungs are screaming for air, but I’m not willing to give in to them. I’ve been dying to kiss Andy ever since he first smiled at me, and I’ll be damned if I’m backing away that quickly.

His hands move up my back to my hair, and he pulls my head back gently exposing my neck. His lips trail down my jaw and to the nape of my neck. I bite my lip to stifle a moan, but it manages to slip out anyway. Andy slowly eases off, opening his eyes to see my reaction. I debate pulling his lips back to mine, but for the moment I drape my arms around his shoulders and just stare into his baby blue eyes.

“Wow.”

He can say that again. “Yeah.”

“I can honestly say that’s the first time I didn’t have to make the first move.”

“And it’s the first time I ever made the first move.”

He smiles. “Then I’m honored.” He leans forward and places a single kiss on my neck. His hips rise under me, and I know exactly where he’s hoping this is going to lead. My body is screaming for his touch, but I don’t want to be that girl. The one who goes off to college and sleeps with the first guy she meets. As much as I want Andy, I can’t do this right now.

                                                   from Never Let You Fall

As her Guardian, I was not supposed to make contact with her.  I was to watch her from afar and keep her safe until it was time for her to learn about us.  As I thought about the consequences I would probably face because of this night, I felt her shoulders start to shake.  She was crying quietly and I leaned in, trying to hear what she was mumbling.
“Are you safe?” she whispered brokenly over and over.  I remained quiet for a few minutes, waiting for her to say more, but she just kept repeating herself.
Finally, she managed to voluntarily move her arms and pushed her hair back from her face.  Still unsteady on her feet, she looked over her shoulder and raised big brown eyes to my face.  They were dilated still, but seemed a little clearer.  She stared into my eyes as she spoke once more, “Are you safe?”
I couldn’t pretend that I didn’t know what she was asking, as I looked into those eyes and saw the tears stream down her pale face.  Her voice was shaky, and the small hand that held the hair back from her face was trembling.
Although I could tell she was standing a bit straighter, I was still supporting most of her weight.  Sighing, I resigned myself to the trouble I was about to get myself into.
“Yes, Skye.” I leaned down, holding her eyes with my own. “I promise you, I am safe.”
She gasped as she heard my answer, and to my astonishment, immediately broke into loud sobs as she crumpled into my chest.  I sank down to the tile floor and held her close to my chest as she cried.
The steaming hot water of the shower pulsed down on us and washed her tears down the drain, along with the last of my resolve to stay away from her.

Guest Post: Ten things that scare the dickens out of me!
by Michele G. Miller

Since the excerpt I shared with you is about Skye wanting to feel safe I figured I would share ten things that scare me.  I warn you- if you try to scare me I will beat you up first, ask questions later! Got it? Good ;)

- I hate H.A.T.E being held down and covered.  Basically do not ever try to wrap me in a blanket to contain me.  As a kid my brother used to do that to me to 'beat me up'.  Freaks me out now.  When my kids and I are horse playing they will throw a blanket over me and try to tackle me.  Ugh! It's feels like I'm being smothered, I just can't do it.  Weird I know.

- Don't touch my neck.  Seriously another childhood trauma.  My dad would pretend to be Dracula and come after me saying 'I vant to suck your blood'.  Lordy I haven't liked people touching me neck since then.  Even the hubby has to be careful if he goes to kiss me on the neck.  *Sorry babe

- Things that go bump in the night.  Yep like all scaredy cat girls out there I can't stand it when I hear a noise at night.  I usually pull my little arms and legs into the center of the bed for fear of the monster underneath it.  I've watched way too many CSI's and horror movies!

- Swimming in water I can't see through.  This one is my overactive imagination for sure.  See I watched Friday the 13th when I was a kid…I know Jason lives in the lake.  LOL, when I go tubing on the lake here at home I hang on for dear life.  The thought of being stranded by myself if a lake with "Jason" just freaks me out.

- Having my car break down.  Anyone else scared of this?  The thought of my car breaking down in the middle of busy rush hour traffic is the motivating factor to my always getting the new car in the family and the fact that I make sure I get my maintenance done on time every time it's needed.

- Horror movies.  Ick!  I watched them as a teen but not anymore.  I can't watch anything scary or freaky without wanting to sleep with a bat.  I also hate blood even when it's fake...ewww scenes where people cut something?  Faint!

- My PC crashing.  I bet this scares ya'll too!

- Okay, another water one.  Sharks!  Again as a kid I watched Jaws (and the sequels) many times.  I used to freak out in a dark swimming pool at night because that dang shark would come to my mind.

- Hornets.  Somehow I don't freak if there is a spider, ants or even a roach in my house.  Hornets however I can't stand.  Every spring we get a few that somehow creep in from somewhere we can't figure out.  Trying to watch me and the three kiddos trying to hide and kill these flying demons would make us $10,000 richer on America's Funniest Home Videos.

- Bridges over water.  Yep my number 1 fear is going over those pesky bridges in my car.  I don't mind walking over water but driving?  I hate it.  Especially over big bodies of water.  I have this abnormal fear of going over and plunging into the sea.  When my kids were little it terrified me because I never knew how I could save them all.  Thankfully they are older, swimmers and can unbuckle themselves now.  Still it makes me nervous.  Ever see "What would you do?" one of those Dateline specials on how to save yourself if you plunge into the water.  Best and worst show ever!

Now you know my crazy fears.  I feel so weird sharing them with you.  Please don't judge me too harshly ;)  What's you fear?

About the author

Having grown up in both the cold, quiet town of Topsham, Maine and the steamy, southern hospitality of Mobile, Alabama, Michele is something of a enigma.  She is an avid Yankees fan, loves New England, being outdoors and misses snow.  However she thinks southern boys are hotter, Alabama football is the only REAL football out there and sweet tea is the best thing this side of heaven and her children’s laughter!

Her family, a doting husband and three awesome  minions, have planted their roots in the middle of Michele’s two childhood homes in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Never Let You Fall is Michele’s first novel and she is beyond thrilled to have finally followed up on a dream she has held for over 20 years!  God willing there will be many many more books to follow.

from TAKING BACK FOREVER

In the short week since Maryah’s momentary remembrance of him, Nate had come alive again. He smiled all the time. His eyes were brighter. I was happy for him, but it left me feeling more alone than ever. He had been my partner in suffering over our lost soul mates. But not anymore.

I gazed at the landscape of Sedona behind him. To myself, I could admit my jealousy of his and Maryah’s reunion, but I’d never say it out loud. “How’s it feel? To have her back after all this time?”

“I don’t have her back. She hardly remembers anything. But I don’t have to hide who and what I am anymore, or that I love her. She knows who she was and where she belongs. I’m patiently waiting for her to figure out who she is now, and what she’s capable of.”

“She loves you. I can see it.”

“I am ecstatically grateful for that. But I still feel the loss of her, of all the time we shared together. It’s like we’re getting to know each other for the first time all over again. We haven’t had to do that for hundreds of years.” His head drooped. “What if she doesn’t like what she discovers?”

“Oh, please. You two light up around each other. That girl is smitten, and so are you.”

His cheeks flushed. “It’s amazing how much more you appreciate someone after you’ve lost them. Her happiness means everything to me. I want to give her the world, the magical and beautiful one she can no longer see, but I worry that’s no longer possible.”

“Give it time. If there’s one thing Mary proved over and over, it’s that anything is possible.”
